vers/verse, pub:1827

Published in La Psyché.

From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed:
225 lines, in stanzas of irregular length, and not always rhyming uniformly. In different versions the division of the stanzas varies somewhat.
Moreover, the copy supplied by M. Glinel in his MS. collection contains nine additional lines, inserted after the 32nd line of the printed copies, and evidently unknown to him in 1884.
It appeared in "La Psyché" in 1827.
In the MS. "Préludes Poétiques" it forms the ninth piece, filling pages 75 to 88. It is there dedicated to Monsieur le Baron Tain.
     M. Glinel published all save the nine lines referred to above in his "Alexandre Dumas et Son Œuvre," pp. 175 to 181.
In his MS. collection the same compiler lists no less than 25 variants in addition to the omission referred to.
